What is the Success Rate of EECP?

The guaranteed EECP success rate is 95% and above. The majority of the patients who underwent EECP therapy have experienced significant improvement in their quality of life. Patients feel more energetic while walking, climbing the stairs, and working out and the need for the pills and other prescribed drugs is also reduced.

How is EECP treatment done?

First, let us understand the science behind it in simple terms. EECP machine will help in applying the pressure to your lower limb blood vessels. This applied pressure will increase the blood flow back to your heart, which in return will help your heart work better than before. EECP therapy for the heart also stimulates the blood vessels to create new pathways for blood to flow easily. And this process of creation of natural pathways ultimately becomes a natural bypass.

In the session, the patient will lie on the bed, where he/she will be strapped by pneumonic cuffs around the calves, lower thigh and upper thigh. These cuffs will inflate and deflate in a distal-to-proximal rhythm, therefore improving the blood flow condition. During this entire process of therapy, the progress of the patients is keenly monitored. Every little detail such as the applied pressure by the machine, oxygen level, heartbeat, etc is observed.

How is it done?

The treatment cycles are given for an hour each day. This is continually practised for 6-7 weeks. Missed treatments can be adjusted and thereby complete the course of 35 treatment sessions. During the treatment, the staff wrap cuffs around your legs and thighs which inflate and deflate according to your heartbeats. An electrocardiogram sets the timing for the cuffs to inflate or deflate. The oxygen level of your blood is checked using the sensor which is attached to the patient’s finger which also monitors the pressure waves created by the cuff inflations and deflations.

What Our Patients Say About Us

Frequently Asked Questions

Enhanced External Counter Pulsation.

EECP is one of the most cost-effective treatments with no surgical procedure. It helps patients with their angina and most of them have experienced positive results such as:

  • No or reduced heart failures
  • No or reduced anginal pains
  • More energy
  • Being able to walk up and down the stairs without feeling chest pain, etc.

A big yes to that. EECP therapy is approved by the FDA and the Government of India as a treatment for congestive heart failure.

EECP is a comfortable outpatient treatment. At first, you may feel pressure coming from the cuff tied around your legs and buttocks. However, once you get accustomed, the rest of the session and the treatment is pretty comfortable.

According to the International EECP Patient Registry (IEPR), to complete the course the patients must undergo 35 hours of treatment. These 35 hours are divided into 35 sessions of 1 hour each per day.

You must make it to all of your appointments on time, however, if you miss any of your appointments, it will not affect the overall treatment. You can simply consult with your doctor/physician to book another appointment.
